Scarfs Suck!!

Ok hopefully I am not alone here - scarfs suck!! I have ripped out and started over on this one scarf a hundred times. I just can't get it right. Not that I am messing up, it just doesn't look right. I really am not a big fan of the garter stitch, and I need a scarf that is gonna be warm for my Dad - he works outside. So I started with the seed stitch. Mind you I have to make 2 hats and 2 scarfs AFTER this scarf is finished before Christmas! I got about 2 feet into it and held it up and went "Ugh" I just didn't like it. So I started the garter stitch. "Ugh" again. Now I am on stockinette knitting in the round, and so far its looking okay. Just wish me luck that it turns out okay and I can still get everything done. "Paws Crossed!!"

My First Pattern!! Daddy's Scarf

I am making this scarf for my Daddy to match the Turn A Square Pattern (Although it's a different stitch it's the same color, and I hope to make a matching hat when I am done!!) So here goes!

-Yarn Used For This Pattern-
-Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn - Stonewash (Light Blue)
-Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn - Dark Denim (Dark Blue)
-Stitch Nation Bamboo Ewe - (Grey)

Size 10 Needles

Cast on 30 stitches.

*k1, p1* repeat ** to end.
For this pattern you are going to knit your purls and purl your knits. I will post a video so you can see this stitch. it is called "Seed Stitch" or "Moss Stitch".

I had a lot of the Hobby Lobby Yarn left so I used it for the majority of the scarf, but wanted to still use the grey to match the hat but didnt have much of it. So heres the lengths of the colors I used -

Stonewash - 4 1/2 inches
Grey - 1 inch
Dark Denim - 4 1/2 inches
Grey - 1 inch
Stonewash - 4 1/2 inches
Grey - 1 inch
Dark Denim - 4 1/2 inches
Grey - 1 inch

Continue in Seed Stitch for the rest of the scarf to your desired length. Make it short and add a button for a female, (I don't like the look of it for a man personally.) Or cast on less to make a thinner width. The width of mine is 7 inches with the 30 stitches cast on. I hope someone comes here and uses it. Please let me know what you think if you make it, and send me pictures I would love to see them. If something is missing please let me know. I will post finished project pictures and videos when I am done! Hope you enjoy and have a nice scarf from my pattern!!

::Monica::

Hope you read this!! For the Dog Sweater Pattern go to Ravelry. You may have to register, but if you plan on knitting more than just that, it's definately worth it. Its the greatest site I have ever seen. it has thousands of patterns, and if I want to make something I go there first and always find it. You can search for anything, and some patterns you have to pay for, but they have just as good free ones, probably better. If you have any questions or need help on anything, add a comment on here, or send me an email at hollyjo@mail.com and add a subject so I know its you. I get tons of "crap mail" and have to sort through it once a week. I will try to get back to you quick but I dont check every day, so your probably better to leave a comment and then an email since I am working on this every day at least a little to get it going!! Good luck! Seriously if you need any help ask me I will do my best to help!!

My First Post

It's December 2, 2010. 9:29 pm. I just made my blog and figured I had better add a post. Hopefully one day someone other than me will read this. I am making everyone knitted presents for Christmas. I just learned to knit about 2 months ago, so I am sure everyone expected it! Maybe next year they will get something a little more complicated than a hat! I am also working on my handwarmers. Its really cold when I go to Indiana, and I usually only have to wait outside for a few minutes before they open the door. So handwarmers are a good fix. Tyson wears his sweater, and loves looking handsome, and he knows he does! I hope to be able to make some patterns after the Holidays, when I have lots of free time to work them out, so Hopefully I will have some viewers!! See ya soon - Paws crossed!
